- Catering mainly for visiting or overseas
cricketers of varying standards, however locals

or visiting basis.
For Professional, or Academy cricketers -
indulge in a disciplined programme of training and
playing cricket. Experience intense practice
sessions aimed at developing technique and mental
gameplans, supported by a programme of physical
fitness, including strength and conditioning. Full
liaison with the player’s county or country coaches
is very desirable to achieve maximum benefits. If
they are keen to work hard, we will certainly work
with them!
For recreational players – to have the
opportunity of playing league cricket in Australia,
perhaps in an attempt to develop their careers, in
pursuit of professional cricket, or merely to
participate in their much loved sport whilst
spending time experiencing the many sites of this
beautiful country. These players may choose to do
part time academy if they are not keen to commit to
full time. Sessions will be as intense as players
wish them to be but at the end of the period the
desire is to send them back with a tremendous life
experience of Australia, it's cricket opportunities,
lifelong memories and mateships!
A
week in the academy
Each week throughout the course will vary slightly,
but essentially a player can expect his week to be
something similar to this: -
Monday: - Morning - Recovery & Net Practice.
Tuesday: - Morning - Fitness & Fielding / Evening -
Club Practice Session.
Wednesday: - Morning - Net Practice & Fitness
Training or Friendly Fixture.
Thursday: - Morning - Fitness & Fielding /
Evening - Club Practice.
Friday: - Morning - Net Practice.
Saturday: - All players will play club
cricket for allocated clubs.
Sunday: - Players have option to play games
every Sunday.
Specialist Coaches will attend practices at regular
intervals.
Fitness training will include cross training and
recovery sessions.
Facilities include a
state of the art indoor cricket center, bowling machines and video
analysis. Nets will be available for use at times outside designated
training times, if players wish to practice even more!
N.B. Players will have a 2 week break over the Xmas holiday
period, to allow time for sightseeing and of course to watch the
eagerly anticipated Boxing Day Test.
Boot Camp
During your time in
Australia players will be subjected to a 3 day boot camp in Lorne,
which is a very popular tourist destination. Staying at the
Cumberland Resort, players will be able to mix tough
physical fitness sessions with opportunities to surf and relax in
one of Victoria’s most picturesque holiday destinations.
Coaching
Training sessions are overseen by Steve Chapman or - in his absence
- by a suitably qualified coach. The emphasis is on working with
each player’s needs and goals, with practices and drills designed to
keep skills sharpness and enthusiasm high. Elite level specialist
coaches, motivational speakers and a Sports Psychologist are invited
to training practice to give players the benefit of their
experiences and knowledge.
With the academy players playing club cricket on weekends, this is a
tremendous opportunity to experience the Australian competitive
environment. We shall endeavor to make sure that players are placed
in a club and grade as close as possible to their level. It
should also be noted that players could go up or down a grade
dependant on form.
Clubs in Melbourne & Brisbane have hosted many players over the
years, mainly from the U.K. Most have had a great time and seen a huge
improvement in their cricket when they returned home to their
respective clubs.

Kent comes calling
Following a 6 month period at the SCCC Cricket Academy
(09/10) Ash Shaw returned home to the grand heights
of professional cricket after recently signing a 2
year contract with Kent County Cricket Club. It is
great reward for a player who prior to coming to
Australia had not consistently played any level of
County cricket in the UK and great credit to a lad
who arrived in Australia with a work hard attitude
and fully embraced the program he was involved in.
`Thanks for everything you did to help me Chappy! The
program was awesome and I have no doubt it is the reason why
I have been given this opportunity.` - Ash Shaw Kent CCC
