and events, including: - MCG, Melbourne F1 Grand
Prix, Australian Tennis Open and the world famous
Melbourne Cup horse race.
It has an abundance of beautiful gardens, wild life

final resting place of the infamous Bushranger Ned
Kelly. Crown Casino Complex is the hub of the
entertainment world in Melbourne and is located
directly opposite Melbourne Aquarium. Tourists are

Simply contact us to express
your desire or intention. A deposit of $2000 will be
required to secure your place on the Academy, with
the remainder of the balance to be paid before the
commencement date. Electronic Fund Transfer can be
used to make payments; account details will be
supplied upon request.
What is the minimum age / required standard?
The Academy is available to player’s 17 yrs or older.
There is no minimum required standard as there is
such a wide range of level of competition available
to all players, which makes placing players in a
competitive standard much easier.
What is the standard of cricket like in
Australia?
Probably the most asked question. Levels of
recreational competition vary vastly in Australia.
International and First Class players must play in
their club sides when they have no prior commitment
to higher-level fixtures. Consequently, playing
weekend cricket in the District or Grade
competition, you could easily find yourself batting
or bowling against the Country's or State's finest.
For the most part, Suburban Turf Cricket is of a
similar standard to English league cricket. Good
players, decent wickets and yes, all cricket is
played on a Saturday / Saturday basis. One team bats
this weekend, the other the next. There is however a
few scheduled one-day games throughout the season.
How many people will be on the Academy?
We have the facility to accommodate a number of
players due to the network of coaches and facilities
we have available. Whilst there is no fixed limit on
Academy numbers, player / coach ratios will be such
as to ensure the absolute quality of the programme
content.
How long does the Academy last?
The Academy is due to start for full-time students
at the beginning of October and runs through
until the end of March. Part-time students will
attend the Academy from either Oct – mid Dec or Jan
– end March.
Can I join after the official start date?
Most certainly. Anybody can join the Academy at any
time, for any duration. Prices for variable duration
of stay on the Academy can be quoted upon request.
Where will I stay and is food included in my fee?
Players will live together for the duration of their
stay in properties located only a few minutes from
the cricket centre. They will have access to
vehicles which will be provided throughout their
stay and can be used for leisure time activities
outside of practice. Food cost is not
included in the Academy fee.
How can I spend my spare time?
Most overseas players use their spare time to relax
and see the sights. The nearest beaches are within
25 minutes of the cricket center and public
transport is plentiful. There is a lot to see and do
in the easily accessible city center. Go see the
Victorian Bushrangers compete in the Pura Cup,
Australia’s First Class cricket competition. Locally
there is a huge lake where the locals regularly swim
in the summer months. Also a huge shopping complex
near by complete with bowling alley and cinemas.
Nightlife locally is fantastic. Lots of casual pubs,
which are open till late and there are some awesome
nightclubs within an affordable taxi ride.
Remember the Melbourne test, starting
Boxing Day, the highlight of the Australian sporting
calendar. One-day games are in mid January.
No definitely not. Conditions of your visa strictly
state that you will not be permitted to work during
your visit to Australia.
Do I need holiday insurance?
Yes. As a condition of your acceptance onto the
Academy you must provide a copy of your holiday
insurance certificate. Insurance is easily sourced
from your local travel agent and can be purchased at
the same time as your flight.
